This project has helped me better understand this illustration practice in a professional sense, and have come across many inspiring illustrators of which inform my own work. It was helpful reading about their thought process. I find that the sense of immediacy and haste is very present in reportage illustration, since it usually involves drawing in-situ, meaning the subjects may move out of view. This often makes it necessary to get down as much information as possible onto the page in a relatively small time frame, resulting in very lively and energetic illustrations. I felt my responses managed to capture this essence as I worked from my own photos under time constraint. I have drawn on location before, and I definitely see the value of doing so as it makes for a more immersive drawing experience and minimises overthinking of decisions, due to that sense of urgency.

There are a range of clients that are interested in reportage illustrators whom offer a wide range of commissions involving book illustration, publishing, and advertising, to name a few. So I feel like this could definitely be a good position for my work, and something I want to pursue.
